The Community Services department encompasses everything from housing to public works to capital projects. If it’s got to be built, fixed or maintained, the Community Services department will be involved.
Department staff is currently updating the 5 Year Capital Plan. Chief and Council must know in advance what community infrastructure and facilities are required to be upgraded or constructed in order to properly plan and budget for these projects. Work on the 5 Year Capital Plan is vital to manage the growth and expansion of the community and to ensure equipment required to maintain the roads, clear the snow, ensure adequate water and sewer services is always in good working order.
Staff is also working to update the Subdivision Map so that growth and expansion in the community can take place through current planning processes. The map will help answer questions such as where should new homes be located, what natural areas in the community should be protected for the enjoyment of everyone and indicate areas such as steep slopes where no building should occur.
