Mission Statement

The Saulteau First Nations health and social development team provide comprehensive integrated services that are holistic and meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, health and social needs of the community.

Health Departments

Saulteau First Nations Health Department adequately provides community services in accordance with the requirements and guidelines set out in the Funding Agreement with First Nations and Inuit Health. Currently the Saulteau health management structure comprises of:

A Band Council member, the role of Band Council Health Representative's is to liason and represent the health department at local, regional, provincial political tables, and public events. Further, the band council representative communicates with membership on a continous basis to ensure community health needs are addressed.

The Health Director manages the following day-to-day activities of the health management structure.

The Community Health Representative (CHR) is a valuable asset for the health team. Having continuous interactions with the community members, the CHR identifies health risks, and/or issues resulting in interventions and support to happen more quickly.

The Wellness Counsellor is responsible for promotion of healthy lifestyle alternatives to Drug and Alcohol, Education, Prevention, one-one and group counselling, crisis intervention and referral activities.

The Community Health and Home care nurse is essential to providing professional care and community service. The nurse provides health advisory and specialized services and implements the disease prevention workshops and immunization activities. Home care assessements and treatment is also the responsibilities of the health team nurse.
