Saulteau First Nation Lands Department
The Land and Resources Department works with Government, industry and scientists to plan and co-manage Saulteau First Nations' land and resources. We also collaborate with Treaty 8 Tribal Association Departments and other Treaty 8 Member Communities to ensure First Nations' participation in all Treaty 8 territorial planning and management according to our rights as set out in Section 35(1) of the Canadian Constitution Act of 1982.This department engages in numerous intercommunication, research,
technical and negotiation activities primarily focused on Forestry, oil and gas, and renewable energy industries. Working closely with the Economic Development Department, we provide Community members with opportunities to work with Government, industry and other First Nations people to develop our land. We participate in environmental mapping, monitoring and impact assessment and inform community members about critical issues and initiatives to ensure that our land is used in a responsible, self-sustaining manner.
