Student Work Opportunities

It is my pleasure to share with you this exciting new seasonal job opportunity in BC Parks for students across the province!

BC Parks has created the BC Parks Student Ranger Program to promote outdoor youth employment opportunities across the province. This program has been made possible through BC Parks License Plate Program funding and a two-year 50% wage-match from the Federal Government’s Summer Work Experience- Green Jobs in Green Spaces Work Experience Program.

For the 2018 season, the BC Parks Student Ranger Program will see 48 students employed across the province. Eligible candidates for the 2018 season are Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 30, currently enrolled in full-time secondary or post-secondary studies with the intention of returning to full time studies in the next academic year.  BC Parks strongly encourages students from Indigenous backgrounds to apply for these positions.

This season, eight Student Ranger crews will be formed across the province. Each crew will consist of 1 Crew Lead and 5 Crew Members, with Crew Leads working May 22nd to August 31st, and Crew Members working June 4th until August 24th. Crews will be based out of the following locations: Victoria, Black Creek, North Vancouver, Alice Lake(Squamish), Kamloops, Manning Park, Smithers, and Prince George.  Each crew will work within various parks and protected areas on various recreation, conservation, public outreach and education projects and cultural awareness activities.

The competitions for these positions are now posted and the application deadline is April 17th. Please have Students visit the BC Parks Student Ranger Program website ( for more information on how to apply and to promote these job opportunities. Attached is a recruitment poster for dispersal at your institution.
