Community Update

Office Closure Extension: April 19th

This is a public notice that due to recent government recommendations from Dr. Bonnie Henry, and the increasing number of COVID cases in our region, Saulteau First Nations will be extending their closure to April 19, 2021. Please remember that as COVID numbers continue to increase in our region, we need to be extra cautious and mindful of the current global situation. Please continue to wear a mask in public spaces, physically distance, and wash your hands frequently.

We must work together to overcome this challenging time. If you have been advised to self-isolate by a health authority, it is crucial that you respectfully do so to protect those around you. Even if asymptomatic, you may be a carrier and infect others more vulnerable than yourself. If you are not following guidelines, they are enforceable under the Public Health Act. Under the Government’s Emergency Program Act, orders may be enforceable by law, including RCMP involvement. People who do not follow these orders could face fines.

Dr. Banas will continue to provide medical services to the SFN community. If appointments can be accommodated via phone, this is preferential. This is for everyone’s health and safety. If patients are required to be seen in person, the patient is to be notified to wait in their vehicle until they are signalled to enter the building. You MUST wear a mask when entering the health centre and are asked to sanitize upon entering.

If you are experiencing any symptoms, regardless of how minor, please stay home, monitor your symptoms, and complete the COVID-19 Self-Assessment to determine whether you require a test. Covid Swabs are a priority at SFN Health Centre. These will be performed by the Community Health Nurse, Heather. You can call Heather directly to book an appointment at (250) 788-7371. You can also arrange a test at the Chetwynd Primary Care Clinic with Northern Health by calling: +1 (844) 645-7811. Patients will be directed to wait in their vehicles and wear a mask. The nurse will go out to the vehicle and perform the swab.

We are asking for community cooperation and participation in ensuring everyone’s health and safety.

Thank you,

Chief and Council
