General Manager

The Little Prairie Community Forest Inc (LPCFI) Board of Directors are currently seeking a  General Manager for the Little Prairie Community Forest.

LPCFI is a partnership amongst West Moberly First Nations, Saulteau First Nations and the District of Chetwynd. Each partner is represented by 2 directors to compose a 6-person Board providing management direction. Through its Community Forest Agreement with the BC Ministry of Forests, LPCFI manages the K2N Community Forest License with an allowable annual cut of 8,000 cubic meters with potential expansion of up to 25,000 cubic meters.

The General Manager will oversee sustainable forestry operations, marketing, community engagement and local hiring strategies for the long-term cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits of the communities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, skills and experience: 

  • Registered Professional Forester or Registered Forest Technologist or related post-secondary degree or diploma. 
  • Minimum five years’ related experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and related financial data.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstration of a strong vision and anticipation of future needs of a growing business.
  • An understanding and knowledge of governance, customs and traditions of First Nation communities.
  • Current and valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Cannot have been convicted of an indictable offence or summary conviction offence involving fraud, theft or false pretenses.
  • Able to relocate to the Chetwynd/Moberly Lake area.
  • Experience working with First Nation organizations is an asset.
