Candidates Forum

Reminder: Saulteau First Nations All Candidates' Forum for today, Wednesday, April 1, 2026 will be held at the Saulteau First Nations Band Office, 1717 Boucher Road, from 6 pm - 8 pm. The Forum is open to SFN citizens only. 


As per SFN Electoral Procedures 9.1: All candidates forum may be held at a time agreed to by the candidates and announced at the nomination meeting. Such a meeting shall take place on the SFN reserve #169 within two (2) calendar days from the date of the nomination meeting to ensure that it occurs prior to advance polls.

As per SFN Electoral Procedures 9.2: The Electoral Officer or the SFN Director of Operation shall chair the candidate's forum utilizing Roberts Rules or rules agreed upon by the majority of citizens in attendance at the meeting.

As per SFN Electoral Procedures 9.3: The chair shall set a reasonable time limit for the meeting, for candidate speeches and for the questioning of candidates by citizens.

As per SFN Electoral Procedures 9.4: The chair shall ensure that appropriate conduct is adhered to by all the people in attendance and that SFN citizens have the right to speak and question.

As per SFN Electoral Procedures 9.5: The candidates' forums shall be video recorded, and the recording shall be made available online to all members of SFN. 

Points of Order:

Candidate speeches will be drawn by lot to determine the order. Each candidate can give a speech, not exceeding five minutes (5) minutes.  All speeches are  done before question period begins.

SFN citizens have one minute (1) to ask a question of any of the candidates. Citizens can direct their question to specific candidates. Questions will be received from the attending members and from online members. 

Candidates have two minutes (2) to respond. If a question is directed to a specific candidate, they can respond to the question first. Other candidates can then respond to the question if they so choose. 

The Forum shall be recorded and posted on the SFN website. The video recording shall be removed from the SFN website on April 6, 2026 prior to the commencement of online voting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. 

Voting Times: 

·        Online Voting: Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 12:01 am and continuing to Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:59 pm

·        Advance Voting: Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 12 noon until 9 pm at the SFN Cultural Centre, 1706 Boucher Road, Moberly Lake, BC

·        Final Voting:  Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 9 am until 9 pm at the SFN Cultural Centre, 1706 Boucher Road, Moberly Lake, BC
