Wildfire, G70183 Update

Please be advised that the Wildfire, G70183, burning within the north west section of Saulteau First Nations Reserve No 169 has been updated to ‘Being Held’ as of May 03 2026 12:00 PM.

‘Being Held’ means A wildfire that is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line, or boundary. (as per BC Wildfire).

This wildfire is identified on the BC Wildfire Map (G70183) and has been updated to include fire perimeter mapping. The total fire area is listed at 24 Hectares; it is important to note that this estimate includes the total burn scar – and is not necessarily reflective of the total area actively burning at any given time.

This fire is unrelated to the cultural burning activities completed by SFN & BC Wildfire between April 22-30/2026.

Response to this event has included BC Wildfire response personnel (17 Fire Fighters), active suppression, and use of fire retardant. Community members are likely to continue to see BC Wildfire crews and equipment on site until this fire is determined to be ‘Under Control’.

At this time, there is no further action required by community.
