Job Purpose

The IT Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing, managing and developing the information technology systems and infrastructure within Saulteau First Nations (SFN). This role involves designing and implementing IT strategies, ensuring the security and efficiency of the organization's technology infrastructure, and managing technical support staff. The IT Manager will collaborate with various departments to align technology solutions with organizational goals and support the growth and development of the Saulteau First Nations community.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the overall goals and objectives of Saulteau First Nations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify technology needs and opportunities for improvement.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and systems.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data, systems, and networks through regular monitoring and updates.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and grow a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the IT department.

Technical Support:

  • Oversee technical support to end-users, ensure hardware, software, and network issues are addressed promptly.
  • Develop and maintain IT support processes to ensure timely issue resolution.

Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure the effective delivery of IT services.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and evaluate vendor performance.

Budget Management:

  • Support the development and management of the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization of IT resources.

Policy Development:

  • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure the proper use and security of technology resources.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and recommend updates to policies as needed.

Project Management:

  • Lead and coordinate IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training sessions and resources to staff members on the use of technology tools and systems.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and facilitate professional development for the IT team.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors to support knowledge transfer and training for SFN staff.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years proven experience in IT management, with a focus on strategic planning and team leadership.
  • Ideal qualifications might include:
    • CompTIA Project+
    • ITIL Foundation
    • Microsoft Certified
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Valid driver’s licence and use of reliable vehicle for work-related duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel at SFN.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of moral judgment, ethics and personal integrity while handling confidential information.
  • Familiarity with the unique needs and cultural considerations of First Nation communities is an asset.
  • Awareness of OCAP and how that relates to First Nation governance.

Work Conditions

  • Travel will be required within SFN office buildings and surrounding community.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Work is performed primarily in the office with hours of work 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, although a hybrid model may be considered.
  • Wage Range: $95,352.76-$104,433.97
