Overview

Saulteau First Nations is hiring Summer Students across several departments for the 2026 season. These positions offer hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

Students will work alongside staff in a supportive and culturally grounded environment while gaining valuable skills and experience.

#1 - Mental Health (1 position available)

Job Description

Will assist the Mental Wellness team with general departmental support, client transportation, wellness programming, and event coordination. The student will accompany staff on home visits to provide social support and help connect vulnerable community members with appropriate resources.

  • Interest in supporting community wellness programs and working with vulnerable populations
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary studies in Mental Health or related field
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

#2 - Nursing (1 position available)

Job Description

Will gain practical experience by shadowing the Lead LPN and supporting community health services under supervision. Duties may include assisting with vital signs, participating in home visits, supporting basic wound care, observing discharge planning processes, and reviewing client care plans.

#3 - Finance (1 position available)

Job Description

Will provide administrative and clerical support to the Finance Department while gaining hands-on experience with financial processes such as invoicing, payroll support, data entry, filing, and general office duties. The student will assist staff with routine tasks and job shadowing to learn daily finance operations.

Job Description

Will support the planning and delivery of community events such as Pemmican Days and Culture Camp while assisting the Community Events Coordinator with administrative and coordination tasks. Duties may include event setup and cleanup, organizing supplies and materials, supporting event logistics, engaging participants, and helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

Job Description

Will support the Recreation Coordinator with planning and delivering summer recreation programs for youth and community members. Duties may include organizing activities, preparing program materials, assisting with facilitation, engaging participants, and supporting setup, cleanup, and basic administrative tasks to ensure programs run safely and smoothly.

Job Description

Will assist with the delivery of programming and group activities at New Beginnings House, including men’s, women’s, youth, and family programming, as well as land-based activities. Duties may include preparing materials, supporting group sessions, engaging participants in a respectful environment, and assisting with setup, cleanup, and coordination tasks.

Job Description

Will support the coordination and delivery of weekly youth summer camps by guiding junior staff and helping ensure activities run safely, on schedule, and meet program standards. Duties may include organizing daily schedules and materials, leading games and outdoor activities, responding to participant and parent concerns, and supporting an inclusive and well-organized camp environment.

Duties may include helping with daily setup and supervision, encouraging positive participation and teamwork, and following safety guidelines to support a fun and structured camp environment.

Job Description

Will work alongside the Treaty Rights and Environmental Protection Land Guardians supporting outdoor environmental and land-based work. Duties may include assisting with water sampling on Moberly Lake, hiking to check mineral lick cameras, supporting hunting cabin repairs, and assisting with lichen harvesting.

#11 - Grounds Maintenance (4 positions available)

Job Description

Will support Public Works and Grounds Maintenance crews with general outdoor upkeep and community clean-up. Duties may include mowing and watering lawns, clearing debris, painting, maintaining trails and outdoor spaces such as playgrounds, cemeteries, and the Fire Lake area, assisting with event preparation for Pemmican Days and Culture Camp, and safely operating grounds equipment.

Job Description

Will support the Grounds Maintenance Lead by assisting with supervising summer students and coordinating daily outdoor maintenance tasks. Duties may include working independently with a small student crew, ensuring Health and Safety practices are followed, transporting students and supplies using a truck or SXS, and assisting with ground maintenance projects.

Job Description

Will assist the Wood Delivery Crew with splitting and organizing firewood and kindling for community use. Duties may also include general outdoor clean-up such as maintaining the gravel pit area and assisting with small tree and brush removal around homes, yards, and driveways.

Job Description

Will gain hands-on experience by supporting project coordination and administrative functions. Duties may include shadowing team members during contractor interactions in the field and assisting with basic reporting, documentation, and project tracking activities.
