SFN Industrial Park Tree Planting A Success!

Posted June 5, 2025 in

We would like to send a Huge Thank You to everyone who participated in today’s tree planting event at the Industrial Park!

This project couldn’t have been possible without the assistance and collaboration of our SFN planning and organizing team: Lands dept, Andrii (Director of Capital and infrastructure), Laurelle (Director of Operations), Aislinn (Occupational Health and Safety Manager), Cultural Centre staff, Ronda and her team from the Public Works Dept, TREP. And for the assistance of our local businesses, 4EG, Mistahiya, Moberly Lake Safety Training and Services.  Additionally, West Fraser and PRRD.

Thank you to Lee-Anna, TREP GIS coordinator, for stepping up at the last minute to give a tree planting and healthy tree presentation, Nathan Paquette our Executive Director, for his opening remarks, and to Councillor Donovan Cameron for your remarks and participation. It was all so greatly appreciated.

The students of Muskoti Elementary and Moberly Lake Elementary were amazing!  They were eager to participate, listen, learn, and plant.  They had a blast and it was a perfect day! They were so cute and so helpful and we kinda feel as though they were free child labour, cause I think they did the majority of the work! Lol 😊

This is the second year that the Nation has applied for BC Hydro’s ReGreening Fund.  An initiative to support the planting of trees and other vegetation that help to enhance ecological networks across the province and ensure proper trees are planted around powerlines.  The first year, we utilized the funding to plant native species of this area along the hillside below the cemetery to stabilize the hill in case of future erosion and preservation of current infrastructure.  (Dogwood, saskatoon and wolf willow)

This year and years moving forward, we want to focus on the beautification of our Nation.  Next year, we will plan to plant along various walking paths to be developed this year within Lakeview Sub.

Thank you again, for everyone’s participation.  Please enjoy the pictures from the day!
