Healing the Lands - Call for Speakers

Saulteau First Nations, host of the 2026 Healing the Land Conference, is excited to announce the call for speakers is now open!

We are inviting speakers who could contribute to the following general themes and topics:

Day 1 – Are We Healing the Land?

A day focused on reflection, evaluation, and shared learning from restoration efforts across Treaty 8 and beyond.

  • Reflections on the last few years of restoration experience in your region
  • Successes, challenges, failures or learnings in land and water restoration
  • Measuring recovery, examples of regressive impacts, and restoration effectiveness
  • Monitoring, adaptive management, and stewardship outcomes
  • Indigenous-led restoration and community perspectives

Day 2 – Healing For Our Future

A forward-looking discussion on stewardship, innovation and long-term resilience.

  • Holistic planning, governance and stewardship systems that incorporate restoration
  • Emerging opportunities and innovation in wetland recovery, wildlife reclamation, and climate adaptation
  • Embedding restoration in planning, operations, and everyday practice
  • Healing while adapting to future environmental, social, and economic challenges
  • Protecting recovered lands and waters
  • “Raising the Bar” – what’s next for restoration, protections, and stewardship?

We invite speaker proposals for the Healing the Land conference that inspire dialogue, share applied knowledge, and contribute to advancing restoration and stewardship practices across sectors and landscapes.
