Wildfire G70322

Posted May 13, 2026 in

Great news SFN Community – Wildfire G70322, known as the Windy Creek Wildfire, has transitioned from ‘Out of Control’ to ‘Being Held’!

As per the BC Wildfire definition, this means “A wildfire that is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.”

Please note, this does not mean the area of the wildfire is safe for public visitation – we encourage membership to stay clear of the area as BC Wildfire crews, equipment, and contractors will remain active within the area.

There will be no further updates regarding this event, the most up to date information can be found on the BC Wildfire Dashboard - https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/map?longitude=-121.466717&latitude=55.967783&activeWildfires=true

Thanks everyone for your attention on this!

Note: You may be wondering why this fire has two perimeters (red circles indicating the footprint of the fire) – wildfires are given a singular number / event name when all the fires within the area are related to a single start. In this case, it’s very likely that the fire ‘jumped’ or started a separate fire due to ember transfer in the wind. Both perimeters are from the same fire, even though it looks like two separate fires.
