UPDATE: Regarding Fire: G70141, SFN Northwest Reserve Area (April 25 2026 8:30 PM)
Please be advised that this fire was updated to 'Being Held' as of 8:30 PM April 25/2026.
'Being Held' means A wildfire that is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary. (as per BC Wildfire).
There will be no further updates provided regarding this incident.
SFN is aware of the fire activity occurring on the north west side of reserve – identified on the BC Wildfire Map as fire G70141 (https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/map) as of April 25/2026, 6:00 PM.
This new fire is unrelated to the bush fire reported yesterday (on the BC Wildfire map as fire G70124), and unrelated to the prescribed burn activities within the community pasture or on the Moberly Hillside.
At this time, the fire activity is listed as ‘out of control’ meaning this fire may continue to grow. BC Wildfire has dispatched a response unit to assess the situation and monitor ongoing conditions.
Given the location of the fire, and the seasonal weather variation, we do not anticipate this fire to grow substantially or threaten community safety. We do appreciate community members avoiding the area in the meantime, and please be aware that BC Wildfire will likely be on scene in the coming days.
At this time, there is no further action required by community.
